Amazon Plan to List Tariffs 'Hostile and Political'

Amazon is reportedly planning to display the cost of President Trump’s tariffs on products the ecommerce giant sells — drawing an immediate condemnation from the White House.

At a press briefing Tuesday, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt lambasted Amazon’s reported plans. “This is hostile and political act by Amazon,” she said. “Why didn’t Amazon do this when the Biden administration hiked inflation to the highest level in 40 years?”

Amazon did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

According to an unconfirmed report by political news outlet Punchbowl News, Amazon “doesn’t want to shoulder the blame for the cost of President Donald Trump’s trade war.” Citing an anonymous source, the report said Amazon will soon show “how much of an item’s cost is derived from tariffs – right next to the product’s total listed price.”
