Who’s ready for a sequel to the “Kool-Aid” movie? “The Studio,” Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg’s hit satire that has captured Hollywood’s attention for its scarily on-the-nose depiction of the film industry, has been renewed for a second season by Apple TV+, the streamer announced Tuesday.

The renewal for Season 2 of “The Studio” arrives just before the airing of Episode 8 this Wednesday evening on Apple TV+, and the first season has two more episodes after that. This week will see Rogen’s studio head Matt Remick try to get Zoë Kravitz to thank him in her Golden Globes awards acceptance speech.

“We’re thrilled to be making a second season of ‘The Studio.’ We’re looking forward to taking the lived experience of making Season 1 and immediately putting it into Season 2, then repeating that loop for ten more seasons,” said creators and executive producers Rogen and Goldberg. “And, we’re excited to keep all our industry friends and colleagues guessing as to when one of their personal stories will stream on Apple TV+.”

“Seth, Evan, the entire creative team and cast of ‘The Studio’ have knocked it out of the park with this brilliant show, and it has been incredible to watch the conversation grow with each new episode.” said Matt Cherniss, head of programming for Apple TV+. “We can’t wait to see where Matt Remick takes Continental Studios in season two, and hope for his sake that the ‘Kool-Aid’ movie crushes at the box office.”

In “The Studio,” Rogen stars as Matt Remick, who leads the fictional and embattled film studio Continental Studios and always has to wrestle with his insecurities, craven corporate overlords, narcissistic artists and stars, and the egos of his fellow executives, all while trying to just make good art. The pilot episode, in which Remick needs to green light a movie inspired by Kool-Aid and manages to get Martin Scorsese involved, started to feel a little too real recently when a project inspired by the brand Hershey’s Chocolate was put into works and when Bill Hader joined a project based on the massacres at Jonestown. And don’t get us started on “oners.”

“The Studio” stars Rogen alongside Catherine O’Hara, Kathryn Hahn, Ike Barinholtz, and Chase Sui Wonders, with guest star Bryan Cranston. And the first season already has featured a litany of celebrity cameos, including Sarah Polley, Greta Lee, Anthony Mackie, Ron Howard, Olivia Wilde, Zac Efron, Johnny Knoxville, Ice Cube, Nicholas Stoller, and more.

“The Studio” is a Lionsgate Television production created by Peter Huyck and Alex Gregory, along with Rogen, Goldberg, and Frida Perez. Point Grey Pictures’ James Weaver executive produce the show along with the creators. Alex McAtee and Josh Fagen also serve as executive producers.

In addition to “The Studio” Rogen also stars in and executive produces “Platonic,” alongside Rose Byrne, with Rogen, Goldberg, and Weaver’s Point Grey Pictures’ set to produce season two, which debuts this summer.
