Now that we know why the Thunderbolts are really called that in the movie, history’s repeating in the comics. Say hello to your New Avengers.

The comic previously announced as New Thunderbolts, asterisk and all, is in actuality the newest iteration of the Avengers offshoot team founded in 2005. Written by Sam Humphries (Uncanny X-Force) and drawn by Ton Lima (West Coast Avengers), the ongoing series sees Bucky Barnes—now going by the Revolution, and the only member carried over from the film—assembling the “most dangerous loners and antiheroes” Marvel’s got right now: Black Widow, Wolverine (Laura Kinney), Eddie Brock as Carnage, the Hulk, Clea Strange, and Namor. Their mission? Take down the recently surfaced “Killuminati,” evil clones of Marvel’s collection of geniuses, and “usher in a revolutionary new era of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.” Check out the villains in the variant covers below.

“It’s a thrill and an honor to continue the grand New Avengers tradition of team dynamics that are as explosive as the threats,” Humphries said in a Marvel press release. This is the first iteration of the team since 2016, when Sunspot’s team was an extension of AIM, which he then owned and converted into Avengers Idea Mechanics. That team, which included Squirrel Girl, Cannonball, Hulkling, and Wiccan, was later rebranded into the U.S. Avengers.

According to the solicits through July, this new team’s going to build its ranks throughout the first few issues while figuring out what to do about its new adversaries.

Look for New Avengers to kick off June 11.
