In the run up to its LA Screenings event on Sunday, Sony Pictures Television has snapped up global distribution rights to the upcoming series “The Miniature Wife,” starring Elizabeth Banks and “Succession” Emmy-winner Matthew Macfadyen.

The relationship comedy series explores the shifting power dynamics between spouses as a technological mishap triggers the ultimate marital crisis, pitting them against each other in a battle for dominance. It will air on Peacock in the U.S.

Produced by Media Res (“The Morning Show,” “Pachinko”), the one-hour comedy series is inspired by author Manuel Gonzalez’s eponymous short story about a man who accidentally shrinks his wife.

“We are really excited to be partnering with the talented team at Media Res and can’t wait to bring ‘The Miniature Wife’ to audiences around the world,” said Mike Wald, co-president, Distribution & Networks, SPT, adding: “’The Miniature Wife’ is ‘must have content.’  Elizabeth Banks and Matthew Macfadyen are an undeniable pairing; the humor is both distinctive and smart and it’s a heck of a lot of fun.”

Banks and Macfadyen are joined by Zoe Lister-Jones (“Beau is Afraid”), Sofia Rosinsky (“Paper Girls”), O-T Fagbenle (“The Handmaid’s Tale”) and Sian Clifford (“Fleabag”) as series regulars.

Rounding out the cast in recurring roles are “The Daily Show” co-host Ronny Chieng (“Crazy Rich Asians”), Aasif Mandvi (“Evil”), Rong Fu (“Star Trek: Strange New Worlds”) and Tricia Black (“Pretty Hard Cases”).

“The Miniature Wife” is created by Jennifer Ames and Steve Turner (“Boardwalk Empire,” “Goliath”), who serve as showrunners and executive producers.

Greg Mottola, who directs the first two episodes, is an executive producer alongside Banks, Macfadyen, Michael Aguilar (“I’m Dying Up Here”), Suzanne Heathcote (“Killing Eve”) as well as Michael Ellenberg and Lindsey Springer for Media Res.

‘The Miniature Wife’ is among the Hot Picks at SPT’s slate presentation on Sunday, which includes Scotland-set “Outlander: Blood of My Blood,” the series adaptation of William Golding’s classic “Lord of the Flies,” podcast-inspired “American Hostage,” mysteries “Playing Gracie” and “The Lady” as well as “Titanic Sinks Tonight,” which tracks the sinking of the Titanic in real time.
