The Scotland international was the hero once again as he netted the only goal in an away win at Monza
Scott McTominay has been grabbing all the headlines since making the move from Manchester to Naples.
And the Scotland international was at it once again as he bagged Napoli’s only goal at Serie A basement boys Monza to keep the heat up on league leaders Inter Milan in the chase for title glory.
Antonio Conte’s summer recruit once again stepped up to the plate – as he has done so often – to score what could be a crucial goal and three points as the battle for the league crown in Italy looks set to go to the wire.
Napoli’s win moves them level with Inter at the top ahead of their tricky trip to Champions League chasing Bologna on Sunday evening.
Skipper Giovanni Di Lorenzo hailed the former Manchester United midfielder as an ‘extraordinary guy’ and opened up on what has surprised him most about the Tartan Army favourite since his move to Italy.
Speaking post-match, he said: “Having McTominay helps a lot. What was surprising was the impact he was able to have on the team right away.
“He is an extraordinary guy. These are three important points for our path.
“Rushing to unlock the game brings risks. We always stayed in the game and focused.
“These are difficult matches, from now until the end they will all be tough and we will have to do something more”.
McTominay and Scotland pal Billy Gilmour face a big final five games as they look to end a first campaign in Naples on the ultimate high.
They have three home games to go against Torino, Genoa and Cagliari on the final day while they face trips to Lecce and Parma in that final run of fixtures between now and the end of May.
