Nate Bargatze to Host 2025 Emmys

Celebrated stand up comedian Nate Bargatze is set to host the 77th annual Emmy Awards, Variety has learned.

The telecast will air live from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday, Sept. 14 beginning at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on CBS and streaming live and on demand on Paramount+.

“It’s a huge honor to be asked to host such an iconic awards show and I’m beyond excited to work with CBS to create a night that can be enjoyed by families around the world,” said Bargatze.

This marks Bargatze’s latest hosting gig for CBS. He previously worked with the network on the holiday special “Nate Bargatze’s Nashville Christmas,” which originally aired Dec. 19, 2024 from the iconic Grand Ole Opry.

“Nate is one of the hottest comics in the business with a remarkable and hilarious brand of comedy that deeply resonates with multi-generational audiences around the globe,” said Television Academy chair Cris Abrego. “We are thrilled to be able to leverage his one-of-a-kind perspective to entertain TV fans watching this year’s Emmy telecast.”

Bargatze is one of the most celebrated stand up comedians working today. He sold more than 1.2 million tickets while touring in 2024, making him the top earning comedian in the world according to Pollstar. He has released six stand up specials to date, with the most recent being “Your Friend, Nate Bargatze” on Netflix. One of his previous Netflix specials, “The Greatest Average American,” earned him a Grammy nomination for best comedy album. Among his many other accomplishments, he has hosted “Saturday Night Live” twice, where he originated the “Washington’s Dream” sketch that went viral in 2023.

Nominations for the 2025 Emmy Awards will be announced on July 15. The Primetime Emmys telecast will be preceded by the Creative Arts Emmy Awards on Sept. 6 and 7.
