What’s Mikey Madison going to star in next after winning the Best Actress Oscar for “Anora“? Well, it won’t be Shawn Levy‘s upcoming “Star Wars” project with Ryan Gosling.

Variety reports that the actress passed on a lead role in Levy’s Lucasfilm project, which Kathleen Kennedy & co. plan to come after “The Mandalorian & Grogu” hits theaters on May 22, 2026. No word on who Madison would have played in the film, but conversations ended abruptly. And apparently, Madison isn’t the only actor to turn down roles in Levy’s still-untitled movie. The InSneider reports Greta Lee and Sarah Snook also passed on the movie, while daniel RPK says Jesse Plemons did, too. That must be deflating for Levy and Gosling, but there’s still plenty of time to cast that project before it heads into production.
Jonathan Tropper writes the script for Levy’s “Star Wars” film, a standalone tale separate from the central Skywalker saga. Levy produces the project via his 21 Laps banner, while Kennedy produces through Lucasfilm. Plot details remain under wraps, so there’s no official word on who Gosling plays in the film, or the parts Madison, Lee, Snook, and Plemons reportedly looked at.
Meanwhile, Madison will have plenty of other projects to choose from in her post-“Anora” career. Other recent roles for the actress include “Once Upon A Time… In Hollywood,” “Scream V,” and “All Souls.” She also had a starring role in the FX series “Better Things.” Sean Baker hand-selected Madison for her Oscar-winning role in “Anora,” which was the critical darling of 2024. The film had its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival last May, where it won the Palme d’Or, and later went an awards spree this winter, culminating with Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Actress wins at the Oscars for the film Baker, and Madison, respectively.
And after that success, Madison will see all sorts of offers across Hollywood come her way. But it’s official: the actress’ next film won’t take place in a galaxy far, far away…
