Manchester United could look like a new team next season if Ruben Amorim receives financial backing in the summer transfer window, which qualifying for the Champions League would support. The Red Devils reportedly want to sign Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo as well as their top target, Wolves’ Matheus Cunha, to transform Amorim’s attack.

United have other areas to address, though, and will need to generate funds through player sales as part of a desperately needed squad overhaul. But Amorim can make three more signings worth just £51million combined to level up his side after a miserable maiden campaign.

Express Sport looks at United’s potential new-look starting line-up at its strongest in the 2025/26 season.

Goalkeeper: Joan Garcia

Andre Onana continues to be linked with a Saudi Arabia switch, having failed to convince in his second year as United’s goalkeeper.

Espanyol stopper Joan Garcia has been among La Liga’s best this term and is reportedly available for just £21m.

According to COPE in April, United have already initiated contact with the 23-year-old’s representatives as they look to beat the competition to his signature.

Right-centre-back: Leny Yoro

Leny Yoro is settling into life at Old Trafford after missing the first few months of his transition season through injury. He should be a regular starter next term.

Centre-back: Jonathan Tah

With Victor Lindelof and Jonny Evans set to be released, United could look to add to their centre-back numbers without breaking the bank.

Sky Germany report the Red Devils want to sign Bayer Leverkusen’s Jonathan Tah on a free transfer, and talks with the 29-year-old’s camp have already taken place.

However, Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid are also in the frame for Tah’s signature.

Left-centre-back: Lisandro Martinez

Lisandro Martinez is set to miss the start of the 25/26 season as he continues to recover from his ACL injury. When the Argentine is fit, he features in United’s best team.

Right-wing-back: Amad

Amad is one of the shining lights of a dismal season and has proven he can make an impact at right-wing-back as well as in attack.

Central midfielder: Manuel Ugarte

Manuel Ugarte has been a consistent performer under Amorim, and his knowledge of his 3-4-3 system should make him an attractive option during preparations for the new campaign.

Central midfielder: Bruno Fernandes

With United eyeing significant investment in attack, Bruno Fernandes’ deeper role could become a permanent arrangement. Whether the Portuguese maestro remains at Old Trafford is another question.

Left-wing-back: Patrick Dorgu

Amorim’s first signing will benefit from a full pre-season after being thrown into a team in turmoil in January.

Right forward: Bryan Mbeumo

The Telegraph report that United have joined the race to sign Mbeumo and want the Brentford star on top of Cunha.

He has plundered 18 Premier League goals this season and already has experience operating in a 3-4-3 system. It’d be a dream capture.

Left forward: Matheus Cunha

Cunha has been just as productive, contributing 15 goals and six assists for Wolves this term. The 25-year-old seems like the more likely arrival and is reportedly in advanced talks.

Striker: Liam Delap

Liam Delap is available for just £30m this summer after Ipswich Town’s relegation, and United are said to be in the frame.

Amorim reportedly wants a natural striker as a priority alongside a more versatile forward, and the 22-year-old is believed to be his first-choice target.

Delap has scored 12 Premier League goals this season and boasts athletic and physical traits United are currently short of.
