Bruno Fernandes 'offered Saudi contract' as Man Utd clear up rumour | Football | Sport

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has reportedly been offered a lucrative deal by Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal. The Middle Eastern outfit have shortlisted the Red Devils star as one of their top targets this summer.

Fernandes has been one of United’s few saving graces this season, scoring 19 goals and registering 16 assists in 52 appearances in all competitions. However, Ruben Amorim could find himself needing a marquee signing to replace the No. 18 over the coming months.

According to the Daily Mail, Fernandes has been offered a ‘mega-money’ deal by Al-Hilal which would see him earn in the region of £65million per year.

The Saudi side are desperate to make a big signing this summer, having allocated £170m to sign Mohamed Salah previously, who has since signed a contract extension with Liverpool.

Fernandes’ camp and representatives of Al Hilal have been locked in talks over the past few weeks, with the latest round of talks taking place as recently as Monday. During those talks, the Riyadh club made a three-year contract offer.

The Portuguese international is yet to respond to the proposal, with his current contract at Old Trafford set to expire in 2027 after penning an extension last year. The deal includes a 12-month option as well, though there is not a release clause – despite claims of a £60m buyout.

A move to Al Hilal would see Fernandes link up with several former Premier League stars, including ex-Chelsea defender Kalidou Koulibaly, former Fulham forward Aleksandar Mitrovic and ex-Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves. Fernandes’ international teammate Joao Cancelo also joined Mohammad Al-Shalhoub’s side from Manchester City last summer.

Amorim has been firm his No. 18’s future previously, insisting that the midfielder remains central to his plans for many years to come. Asked about transfer speculation surrounding Fernandes earlier this season, he said: “It’s not going to happen. I want Bruno here.

“We want to win the Premier League again, we want the best players with us. He’s still so young because he plays 55 games every season. Between assists and goals, he’s there for 30 at least. He’s the player we want here, he’s not going anywhere. We are in control of the situation. I feel that he’s really happy here. He understands what we want to do.”
