Liverpool are on the verge of landing Bayer Leverkusen right-back Jeremie Frimpong, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.
The Merseyside giants are expected to spend big during the summer transfer window. A right-back will be signed to replace Trent Alexander-Arnold, who will leave at the end of his contract on June 30.
It is now revealed that the Reds are in advanced negotiations with Leverkusen over the fee for Frimpong, who has a release clause worth €35m in his deal. The Reds want to pay the sum in several instalments.
Personal terms are pretty much a formality with Frimpong and a transfer could be announced soon. The 24-year-old could join the club as soon as the transfer window reopens on the 1st of June.
Frimpong should be a quality replacement for Alexander-Arnold. He is an attacking right-back like Alexander-Arnold and has managed 17 goal contributions in all competitions for Leverkusen this term.
His defending is also much better than Alexander-Arnold. The Dutchman is blessed with pace and likes to make regular recoveries.
