Liverpool have only just been confirmed as Premier League champions for the second time but boss Arne Slot might already be putting thought into how his squad might look next season
The ticker tape hasn’t even been launched yet but Liverpool have no time to waste. The newly-crowned Premier League champions already have their eyes set on next season.
Boss Arne Slot could choose to tinker with the squad at his disposal over the coming months as he plots how to retain the trophy at Anfield. He will almost certainly need a new right-back with Trent Alexander-Arnold’s exit having been announced.
Former Manchester United man Roy Keane has also given the Dutchman a hint on further signings having suggested three more additions apart from at right-back. He has suggested that a left-back, a centre-back and a striker all need to arrive on Merseyside before next season gets underway.
Should all of those deals be done, that could leave club chiefs with a few tricky decisions to make over their current squad. Luckily, Mirror Football is on hand to give them a head start…
Alisson Becker
Still one of the best goalkeepers in the world, it would be nonsensical for Liverpool to cash in on the Brazilian international any time soon. Alisson should remain as the Reds’ number one next season. KEEP

Caoimhin Kelleher
There’s no doubt, Kelleher is a talented goalkeeper – his 67 appearances for Liverpool proving that. But he’s itching for first-team football and with Giorgi Mamardashvili set to arrive at the club in the summer, it might be best served that he moves on. SELL
Virgil van Dijk
A very easy decision. Van Dijk has been an imperious figure at the back for Liverpool once again this season and was justifiably given a new contract at Anfield. KEEP
Ibrahima Konate
The Frenchman has probably enjoyed his best season with Liverpool since his arrival from RB Leipzig. He has made 28 Premier League appearances across the campaign and looks to be entering his peak years. KEEP
Joe Gomez
This is a tricky one. Gomez is no doubt a useful player and not many Liverpool fans would mind him sticking around at the club. But his injury issues have hugely impacted his time at the club and it might be time to move on. SELL

Trent Alexander-Arnold
Yes, yes, we all know he’s already leaving. And it’s probably one of the worst kept secrets in football that he’s on the way to Real Madrid. Liverpool could still potentially earn a pretty penny by releasing him from his contract for the Club World Cup. SELL
Conor Bradley
At just 21 years of age, the academy graduate has a tough task on his hands to replace Alexander-Arnold – but that’s exactly what he’s lined up to do. Liverpool might sign someone to help but Bradley should stay. KEEP
Andy Robertson
After a tricky few seasons, the Scottish international now looks back to his best. Liverpool will certainly need his creativity following Alexander-Arnold’s departure. Robertson only has a year left on his deal but the Reds can’t afford to let him leave this summer. KEEP
Kostas Tsimikas
Signed as a back-up, the Greek defender has fulfilled that role ever since. Regardless, he has still managed to make over 100 appearances for the club since his arrival in 2020. He’s also a very popular figure but could see himself fall down the pecking order should a new left-back be signed. SELL
Jarell Quansah
The defender’s latest outing ended up being somewhat of a nightmare, scoring an own goal and conceding a penalty at Chelsea. The question remains whether he is a long-term option for Liverpool – probably not – so the Reds might not be against cashing in. SELL
Alexis Mac Allister
The 2022 World Cup winner has been instrumental to Liverpool’s form this season. His £35m move from Brighton looks an even bigger bargain now and he’s simply not going anywhere this summer. KEEP
Curtis Jones
Having accumulated 176 outings for Liverpool, Jones is now fresh off the back of his most productive season from an appearance point of view. He’s never quite managed to become an undisputed first choice but it would be misguided to let two academy graduates leave in the same summer. KEEP
Ryan Gravenberch
Ask this question after his first campaign and some fans would have been against cutting their losses on the Dutch midfielder. Having now adjusted to life in the Premier League, Gravenberch is arguably one of Liverpool’s most effective players. He’s stamped his authority all over the Reds’ midfield. KEEP
Dominik Szoboszlai
Some might forget that Hungarian playmaker Szoboszlai is only 24 – which is remarkable given how impressive he’s been at Anfield. He’s not even reached his peak yet so it would be frankly baffling to see Liverpool sell the midfielder. KEEP
Wataru Endo
Signed as a somewhat emergency option under Jurgen Klopp, Japanese international Endo has gone on to become a hugely popular player at Anfield. And his commitment can never be questioned. But at the age of 32, Liverpool are rapidly running out of time to earn a considerable fee for his services so a move might be best. SELL
Harvey Elliott
Still just 22 years of age, there’s no doubt that the former Fulham starlet has an extremely bright future in the game. He’s already had his fair share of memorable moments as a Liverpool player. Despite seeing his minutes dwindle this term, he’s definitely worth keeping around. KEEP
Mo Salah
Some 244 Liverpool goals. A two-time Premier League winner. Arguably one of the best players in Liverpool’s long history. And tied down to a new deal. This is an easy decision. KEEP
Luis Diaz
The Colombian winger has had an intriguing season for Liverpool. He’s scored 16 goals, the most in a season during his three-and-a-half campaigns on Merseyside. But there have been times where he has struggled for form. Now at the age of 28, Liverpool might be running out of time to secure a big fee for his signature but reports suggest that he is already in talks for a new deal. KEEP
Diogo Jota
The Portuguese forward has had some inspired moments as a Liverpool player and on his day, he can be a very effective forward. But his injury problems have regularly caused issues. If the Reds can sign a better replacement then it might not be the worst idea to bid farewell. SELL
Federico Chiesa
Speaking of injuries, Italian winger Chiesa has endured a rotten first season at Liverpool since his arrival from Juventus, and he has only just scraped enough appearances (five) to earn a Premier League winners’ medal. If Liverpool can recoup the fee they paid for him, it might be best to say goodbye. SELL
Darwin Nunez
Signed as Liverpool’s answer to Erling Haaland, the striker has really struggled for form this term. He has scored just five Premier League goals this season. Given the big fee that the Reds paid for him, they might find it tough to recoup that amount but now might be time to cut their losses on the Uruguayan. SELL
Cody Gakpo
Signed in the winter of the same season that Nunez arrived at Anfield, the Dutch forward’s performances have gotten better and better compared to that of his team-mate. He has 17 goals this season so far – his most productive campaign with Liverpool. And should that trajectory continue, Anfield chiefs have a brilliant player on their hands. KEEP
