John Higgins in vicious Rangers troll as snooker icon claims Celtic are '54 titles ahead' of bitter rivals

The four-time world snooker champion riffed on a go-to favourite putdown which infers no Ibrox league triumph counts before 2012

Mischievous John Higgins couldn’t resist trolling Rangers after claiming his beloved Celtic are now ’54 titles ahead’ of their fierce rivals.

The four-time world snooker champion riffed on a go-to putdown which infers no Ibrox league triumph counts before the club’s implosion in 2012.

The 49-year-old was in top form as he outlasted Xiao Guodong in a Crucible classic by a scoreline 13-12 before he lined up one final pot in Sheffield before bed.

A smirking Higgins quipped. “I think that’s us 54 titles ahead of our rivals.”

The added meaning appeared lost on both Hazel Irvine and John Parrott but Higgins could barely contain himself.

The snooker hero adores Scottish football’s reigning champions and has been a regular at Celtic Park throughout his life.
