Hong Kong keeper fires title warning, would swap Manchester United chance for FA Cup final

Goalkeeper Tse Ka-wing has warned Lee Man that Tai Po are “not done yet”, ahead of another decisive weekend in a roller-coaster Hong Kong Premier League title race.

A visibly edgy Tai Po drew 2-2 at home with Southern last Sunday to surrender the championship initiative to Lee Man, who have a one-point advantage at the top with three games remaining. Eastern are third, two points behind Tai Po.

On Saturday, Tai Po will play at Rangers, before Lee Man go to Kowloon City on Sunday, while Eastern are away at North District.

Long-time leaders Tai Po looked crestfallen after slipping off the summit, while a minority of supporters voiced their anger at a team that also lost Sapling and FA Cup semi-finals last month.

Lee Chi-kin, the head coach, remonstrated with the disgruntled fans, while right-back Lee Ka-ho had to be refrained from confronting them. Tse, who tried to act as peacemaker, said he could “understand why some fans behave that way – they want us to win every game”.

“They buy tickets and have a right to do it, but we have emotion too,” he added. “If we drop points, our mood is not good, so if we face negative sounds, we feel angry.”
