Google and Kaggle’s recent Gen AI Intensive course, back for its second year, had more than 280,000 signups in just 20 days — and the attendance broke the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title for the Largest Attendance at a Virtual AI Conference in One Week. In case you missed it, here’s what we covered, and how you can learn more.
The content
We thoughtfully designed the course to give participants a strong understanding of generative AI, from the basics of large language models (LLMs) to actually using gen AI with tools in production. The live course was carefully architected to deliver a balanced mix of theory, hands-on learning and community engagement across five intensive days. Each day focused on a specific topic and included a variety of resources to deepen understanding and provide practical experience:
The assignments
Assignments included AI-generated podcasts (created using NotebookLM) and informative whitepapers (written by experts across Google). For hands-on learning, participants engaged with practical code labs on Kaggle where they could experiment with different gen AI techniques and tools, like the Gemini API, Embeddings, Vertex AI, and open source tools like LangGraph. We also added a capstone project at the end of the course for participants to get even more hands-on practice implementing concepts they’ve learned. Check out the winning submissions here.
The community
Community interaction was facilitated through a Discord chat, actively moderated by Googlers, and via livestream sessions featuring expert guests from Google who answered questions and delved deeper into thematic topics, allowing participants to connect directly with course creators and experts.
If you missed the live course, some of the most popular gen AI Intensive content has been adapted into a self-paced format and is available as a Kaggle Learn Guide.
