Fantasy Premier League: time to buy Haaland as City face Saints in Gameweek 36

With only three games to go in Fantasy Premier League, we are at that stage of the season when club sides become unpredictable, making team selection and transfers an even bigger headache.

In most seasons, targeting players from teams facing Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur would be ridiculous, but with both clubs showing dismal form in the league, and having secured their spots in the Europa League final on Thursday night, I am advising you to do just that.

This Gameweek 36 FPL article will be a handy guide for managers looking to take high-risk gambles to climb the rankings and win their mini-leagues.

Gameweek 35 review

The less said about my Gameweek 35 the better. A pathetic 38 points – made worse with 18 on the bench – dropped me 30,000 places down to around 164,000th in the world.

But those who gambled on Kevin De Bruyne (£9.5m) and gave him the captain’s armband were rewarded with a goal. More than 300,000 managers have gone for him this week, and with Southampton away, it is hard to call the move knee-jerk.

And for those managers who wanted to roll back the years with Jamie Vardy (£5.3m), who is chasing 200 goals for Leicester, the striker bagged one against Southampton, taking his total to 199. No doubt he will be going all out for a goal against Nottingham Forest on Sunday.

How to win your mini-league

In this section I am going to outline three high-risk, high-reward tactics you can take this week that could seriously boost your FPL ranking.
