Championship and League One title winners had players recognised while a Hibs derby stunner was voted Goal of the Season

John McGlynn made it back-to-back PFA Scotland Manager of the Year awards after pipping Brendan Rodgers to the top award last night.

The Falkirk boss capped a sensational weekend that saw the Bairns win promotion back to the top flight for the first time in 15 years on Friday.

McGlynn – who also landed the honour as Raith boss in 2011 – was voted top boss by the Managers and Coaches Association last year for guiding Falkirk to an invincible League One title triumph.

And the 63-year-old came out on top again at last night’s awards bash in Glasgow – ahead of Celtic boss Rodgers who stands on the brink of the Treble and Hibs manager David Gray – after steering them to first place in the Championship.

He becomes the first manager to land the honour three times.

There was recognition for Celtic though as Daizen Maeda took the Player of the Year Award home to go with his hat-trick of club prizes.

Motherwell’s Lennon Miller was the Young Player of the Year, as expected.

Falkirk made it a double on the night with skipper Brad Spencer named Championship Player of the Year for his ever-present season in the Bairns midfield.

Spencer chipped in with eight goals in 44 games and beat team mate Calvin Miller, Livingston’s Robbie Muirhead and Ayr United’s Jay Henderson to the award.

Elsewhere at the awards, Hibs defender Jack Iredale landed Goal of the Season as voted for by fans for his stunning strike against Hearts to win March’s Edinburgh derby.

The summer signing said: “I never really dreamed of an award for scoring. I got nominated for one when I was at Morton a few years back – only for Kieran Tierney to put one in the top corner from about 50 yards, so it was fair enough. I’ve watched my goal quite a few times. My folks have probably got it on loop.

“I remember being in the game and we were 2-1 up, it was about 85 minutes, and Rocky missed a chance and I was absolutely buzzing because I didn’t want him to get any recognition!”

Fraser Taylor – on loan at Arbroath from St Mirren – lifted the League One gong after helping the Gayfield side to the Championship.

The SPFL’s top scorer Alan Trouten was named League Two Player of the Year after hammering in 26 goals in 39 appearances for East Fife.

Hibs Women boss Grant Scott was voted as the SWPL Manager of the Year after leading the Easter Road side to the top of the table, three clear of Glasgow City, with three games left to play.

And Scotland, Liverpool and Celtic legend Sir Kenny Dalglish was honoured with a Special Merit award.
