Bologna eased into their first Coppa Italia final in 51 years after completing a routine two-legged victory over Empoli tonight.
Leading 3-0 from the first game, Vincenzo Italiano’s men were never really threatened and will now face AC Milan following their surprise win over city rivals Inter.
Empoli’s hopes of a stunning comeback were effectively ended after just seven minutes when Giovanni Fabbian headed home Nikola Moro’s cross.
Viktor Kovalenko equalised on the night, firing home after Ola Solbakken’s shot was saved by Federico Ravaglia.
Bologna had the better of the chances and the winner duly came with four minutes to go, Charalampos Lykogiannis crossing for Thijs Dallinga to head into the far corner.

Atleti ease past Rayo
In Spain, third-placed Atletico Madrid restored their six-point cushion to Athletic Bilbao in fourth with a routine 3-0 win over Rayo Vallecano.
Alexander Sorloth’s third-minute goal put them on their way and a Conor Gallagher effort on the stroke of half-time doubled the hosts’ advantage.
Julian Alvarez added a third 13 minutes from full-time.
Real Betis moved into the Champions League spots with a 5-1 thumping of Valladolid.
Chuki cancelled out Jesus Rodriguez’s opener but rock-bottom Valladolid were swept aside after the break.
Quickfire goals from Cucho Hernandez and Isco put Manuel Pellegrini’s men in charge and late efforts from Romain Perraud and Abde Ezzalzouli added gloss.
Girona fail Leganes test
Relegation-threatened Leganes are four points from safety despite Munir El Haddadi’s injury-time equaliser salvaging a 1-1 draw with Girona.
Cristhian Stuani gave Girona the lead nine minutes into the second half but the visitors could not press home their advantage despite playing against 10 men for the majority of the game following Seydouba Cisse’s 19th-minute dismissal.
In tonight’s other La Liga game, Osasuna beat Sevilla 1-0 thanks to a Ruben Garcia strike.
