The big Nigerian was adamant Rangers should have had a spot kick in Bilbao
Ally McCoist can’t believe Cyriel Dessers was denied a penalty for Rangers after having his shirt ripped in too.
The big Nigerian was adamant Rangers should have had a spot kick in Bilbao as he ran past Dani Vivian, who got a fistful of blue material.
Dessers hit the deck and was immediately up demanding a pen from Bosnian whistler Irfan Peljto, but he wasn;t interested and neither was VAR.
The Gers striker wouldn’t let it lie and was eventually booked for his protests.
But that was nothing compared to TNT Sports co-commentator and Ibrox legend McCoist.
He was all for applying the letter of the law as he slaughtered the officials, and wondered what PGMOL refs chief Howard Webb would have made of the call, having been chatting with the former EPL man in charge before kick-off.
“By the letter of the law, that is a penalty,” McCoist insisted.
The boys will have a look if, 10, 15 years ago, we are not even talking about it, letter of the law? It’s a penalty”
“That’s embarrassing (as yellow cards came out). Listen, what a state of affairs. An absolute embarrassment from the referee.
“Oh dear me. Holy smokes, honest to goodness.
“I had a good chat with Howard Webb before the game. He’s here this evening and I’m dreading to think what Howard would thikn of that there.
