Match preview for AC Milan v Bologna
With the Coppa Italia title on the line, AC Milan and Bologna meet at the Stadio Olimpico on Wednesday night.
The two teams faced off on Friday in Serie A, where Milan ran out 3-1 winners at San Siro.
Now riding a four-game winning streak – their best run in over a year – Milan appear to be peaking at the right time.
Despite winning the Supercoppa Italiana in January, Milan’s domestic league form has been erratic, and their European campaign fell short of expectations.
However, their path to the Coppa Italia final has provided a welcome distraction – and possibly a shot at redemption.
Their semi-final win over Inter Milan marked their fifth match unbeaten against their fierce city rivals this season. Prior to that, they swept aside Sassuolo in a 6-1 rout and edged past Roma.
Milan’s opponents, Bologna, are chasing their first Coppa Italia crown in over 50 years. Their last win came in 1974, and they have lifted the trophy only twice in their history.
This season has been something of a renaissance under Vincenzo Italiano. Bologna eased past Monza and Atalanta to reach the semi-finals for the first time since 1999, then cruised past Empoli with a 5-1 aggregate win.
Now preparing for their 15th Coppa Italia clash with Milan, Bologna have four wins compared to Milan’s six. However, they ended a long league drought against the Rossoneri earlier this season.

Team news for AC Milan v Bologna
Milan are set for a boost with the return of both Youssouf Fofana and Rafael Leao, who missed the recent league win over Bologna due to injury and suspension. Fikayo Tomori should also be available after taking a knock.
In attack, Conceicao faces a decision between Santiago Gimenez, Tammy Abraham, and Luka Jovic for the lone striker role. Warren Bondo and Riccardo Sottil remain sidelined.
For Bologna, Thijs Dallinga is expected to start ahead of Santiago Castro, who has struggled with a foot issue. Riccardo Orsolini will provide width on the right, having contributed 15 goals this season.
On the left, Dan Ndoye – who scored the winner in Bologna’s February win over Milan – will compete with Nicolo Cambiaghi and Benjamin Dominguez for a place.
At right-back, Emil Holm could return, challenging Davide Calabria and Lorenzo De Silvestri for a start.
