Speaking to the BBC, pundit Paul Leeman said: “It was bedlam and there looked to be several punches thrown. Once it spills over like that it’s difficult for players to contain themselves.
“The referee had no choice once there were punches thrown. I haven’t seen anything like that in years, certainly in this league. In this day and age there are going to be hefty bans handed out.
“It was a poor game, people will probably say this was the most exciting thing that happened.
“They should have shown a bit more fight during the game, they’ve shown more fight after it. Now they are going to have players suspended for huge games for getting involved stupidly.”
