JetBlue’s transatlantic expansion to Scotland and Spain
On May 22, 2025, JetBlue will launch its first-ever flight to Spain, kicking off daily nonstop seasonal service between Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) and Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport (MAD). On the same day, the New York-based carrier will also introduce daily seasonal flights between Boston and Edinburgh, joining JetBlue’s existing summer service from JFK Airport. Both transatlantic routes will be serviced by the Airbus A321LR and operate from late May to October.
JetBlue has updated its onboard experience this year as well. For those of us stuck in economy, Jetblue’s “core” product offers the most legroom in coach out of any US airline. Pro tip: For extra perks like early boarding, free drinks, and dedicated overhead bin space book the new “EvenMore” bundle introduced earlier this year.

TAP Air Portugal connects Los Angeles and Lisbon
TAP Air Portugal is expanding its North American network with the introduction of a new Lisbon to Los Angeles route, previously the largest unserved city pair between Portugal and the US. The new route will commence on May 16, 2025, with flights operating three times per week and an additional Saturday service beginning on May 26.
The best things to do in Lisbon include a visit to storied landmarks such as the Jerónimos Monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and the Alfama district, with its narrow alleys and tradition of Fado music. A visit to the world-famous Pastéis de Belém bakery is also a must. For breathtaking city vistas, head to São Jorge Castle, the Miradouro da Senhora do Monte viewpoint, or a rooftop bar such as Lumi at The Lumiares Hotel. Luxury accommodations in Lisbon are a mainstay; the Six Senses Lisbon and MACAM, Europe’s first combined museum and luxury hotel concept, is scheduled to launch this year, as the latest addition to the city’s impressive hospitality scene.
