Ferguson let his players hear it when they reported to training on Monday morning

Rangers interim manager Barry Ferguson

Barry Ferguson let his Rangers players hear what he was thinking on Monday morning – but the boss reckons EVERYONE is on the same page now.

Ferguson’s team slumped to a 2-0 defeat to Hibs at the weekend in their latest worrying domestic result and it was far from ideal preparation for a Europa League showdown with Athletic Bilbao.

Incredibly it was their fifth straight defeat at home in all competitions, and the fifth time in Ferguson’s seven games they found themselves 2-0 down in a game.

They managed to come back from that position against Dundee, but couldn’t against Hibs and Ferguson revealed he held a meeting on Monday to clear the air.

And ahead of Thursday’s Europa League quarter-final first leg with Athletic, he’s feeling more positive about things.

He said: “I’m feeling better. Saturday and Sunday were difficult, we got in on Monday morning and let’s just say we had a long, long chat. I aired my views, so did the staff and the players, which I was happy with because we’ve been too quiet.

“So it was good. And then we got to train on Monday to prepare for this game tomorrow night.

“I would rather keep it in house (what was said). But I thought the time was right to spend a bit of time with them and go through a lot of things I clearly wasn’t happy with.

“It’s good to get their point of view as well, because we need to get to the bottom of it. It’s been a real issue.

“I came out of the meeting, training was bubbly on Monday. That’s what I want, I don’t want anyone moping about and being unhappy. There were a lot of things said.

“We had a good session on Tuesday. We’re totally clear on how we’re going to approach the rest of the season, not just tomorrow night.”
