Arsenal’s slip-up against Crystal Palace in midweek means Liverpool can win the Premier League title on Sunday but for Mikel Arteta’s men all eyes are on PSG and Europe

Espanyol goalkeeper Joan Garcia is also on Manchester United’s radar

Mikel Arteta and Arsenal have a huge week ahead of them with the first leg of their Champions League semi-final with Paris Saint-Germain upcoming. And all eyes will be on the Gunners in midweek when the French champions travel to London.

On a weekend where Liverpool can clinch the Premier League title with games to spare, Arteta and Arsenal have already played their match owing to their commitments in Europe. Their 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace in midweek means Liverpool can toast a 20th domestic title early should they avoid defeat against Tottenham on Sunday.

Arsenal have bigger fish to fry, though, with a realistic chance of glory in Europe. They have only reached the Champions League final once before, where they lost to Barcelona back in 2006.

Gunners target approach by rivals

Manchester United are said to have made an approach for Joan Garcia as interest in the Espanyol goalkeeper. The Gunners were heavily linked with Garcia, 23, last year and retain an interest in the player, who has impressed in La Liga this term.

But Arsenal could face stiff competition from their Premier League rivals, who are weighing up their own goalkeeping options. Andre Onana has struggled again this term and his errors could force the Red Devils into the market in order to freshen things up and, as per reports in Spain, have already made contact with Garcia’s camp.

PSG boss Luis Enrique insists that he has not been studying Arsenal ahead of their crunch Champions League semi-final next week – because he already knows all about them. The French champions started the campaign as one of the favourites to win the tournament but were beaten soundly by the Gunners in the initial group phase.

Arsenal stunned the reigning holders, Real Madrid, in the quarter-finals but Enrique doesn’t seem overawed. When he was asked by reporters at the weekend if he had been studying Arsenal, he replied: “No, because I already know Arsenal perfectly well. I’ve known it for a long time. It’s a team I’ve followed.”

Matheus Cunha has dropped a fresh hint on his future as Manchester United continue to close in on a deal for the Wolves forward.

Arsenal were linked with a move Cunha back in January before he signed a new deal. But United are in talks with him over an agreement which would see him move due to a £62.5million release clause – and he caused a stir at the weekend when he celebrated a Wolves goal by tapping the badge on his shirt.
