Anthony Ralston in action for Celtic

Anthony Ralston admits he’d love to see boss Brendan Rodgers commit his long-term future to Celtic.

The Parkhead gaffer only has a year left on his current deal – and next season could potentially be his last at the club.

Rodgers is on course to become the first Celtic manager ever to win three domestic Trebles – and faces a Scottish Cup semi-final against St Johnstone at Hampden today.

The legendary coach is set to discuss his future with Celtic chief Dermot Desmond in the summer.

And Scotland full-back Ralston is adamant he wants Rodgers to be at the club for years to come.

Ahead of Sunday’s Hampden clash, the 26-year-old said: “It’s been a really successful time for us since the gaffer came back.

“As players, whenever you get the opportunity, you want to implement his game style and coaching – because it has worked great for us.

“And we’re looking for more of the same moving forward, into next season and continuing.

“Would it be good to tie him down on a longer deal? That’s in the hands of others at the club, I’m only a player.

“But yes, definitely, I would like to see that.”

Ahead of the St Johnstone tie, Ralston hailed Rodgers’ impact at Celtic over two spells as manager, which includes an unbeaten run in the Scottish Cup.

The Hoops right-back says his incredible record in the competitions gives them confidence they can lift the trophy again this term and complete a clean sweep.

Ralston said: “It would be a terrific achievement for him (to win three Trebles).

“We have done so well under him in the Scottish Cup, at Hampden especially.

“And that gives us real belief as players.”
