Ange Postecoglou has been told what is letting him down at Tottenham – and he’s been warned to sink his medicine.

The former Celtic boss continues to feel the heat from the Spurs support as their poor form and results continue. A weekend 4-2 defeat to Wolves leaves the North London outfit 15th in the English Premier League table.

They’ve got a big Europa League quarter-final second leg in Germany against Frankfurt this midweek as they bid to reach the last four and go on and lift the trophy. That would book a golden ticket to the Champions League while delivering on the promise made from the former Hoops gaffer that he always wins in his second season.

But leading pundit Micah Richards – who rates Postecoglou as a manager – reckons he’s let the media get the better of him and he feels it there is a story emerging every week on the 59-year-old biting back and making things bigger than they need to be.

He’s also had some run-ins with fans after matches this season with the former Manchester City and Aston Villa defender believing Ange needs to just take his medicine after a bad result.

He doesn’t put all the blame at the door of the Tottenham boss insisting the players at his disposal are much better than the performances they are producing on the pitch. The future of Ange in North London is one he believes is ‘looking bleak’ and the players need to step up their game for the under-pressure gaffer.

Speaking on The Rest is Football podcast, Richards said: “These performances are just not good enough. I bought into what Ange was doing. I think he is a very good manager and I believe he has let the media get the better of him.

“He is so experienced, yes, maybe not in the Premier League. But some of the things he is saying now, he is almost doubting himself.

“When he doesn’t need to doubt himself because he is a good manager and he just needs to get it right. I think when you have bad result after bad results, you have just got to take your medicine.

“I feel like there is a story every single week with Ange biting back at the media, that’s making it a bigger thing than it needs to be.

“Sometimes, you have just got to take it, haven’t you?! At the moment, it’s seeping onto the pitch. It’s not just Ange at this moment, the players need to do better.

“The players are way better than they are showing. They need to do a lot better, because it’s looking bleak for the future of Ange, for the club. It’s sad to see, because I genuinely believe he is a very good manager, he is just going through a really bad time at this moment in time.”
