A grim Saturday for Kelly afternoon saw Gers struggle at St Mirren after Celtic had clinched another title in style
Liam Kelly admits the Rangers squad can have no complaints if the axe falls this summer.
Ibrox caretaker gaffer Barry Ferguson admitted his entire first-team dressing room are now playing for their futures after watching them spill points again in Paisley.
Saturday’s 2-2 draw with St Mirren came on a depressing day that started with Celtic clinching a fourth straight league crown and leg two of yet another Treble.
The only hope now for the long-suffering Gers fanbase is that the club’s in-coming US owners make sweeping changes ahead of the new campaign.
And Kelly admits that prospect should worry every underperforming player.
Asked if the potential for change gave him reason for optimism next year, the keeper replied: “No, I wouldn’t say hope. It’s just reality, isn’t it? It’s just what’s needed.
“We’ve obviously not been good enough this season to win a trophy.
“We can’t have any complaints because we’ve not been good enough so we need to just deal with it, get on with it, try our very best to improve and give our absolute all in these last four games.
“We represent hundreds of thousands of people, so the least they deserve is the absolute maximum effort.
“The least the boys can do is give them that and if we come up short through technical mistakes, then fair enough, but the least we can give is our all to our supporters.”
Brendan Rodgers’ newly crowned kings of Scotland are next up for ragged Rangers.
Kelly shied away from watching the scenes of celebration at Tannadice as the Hoops wrapped up their 13th title from the last 14 years.
But he knows a repeat of Saturday’s grim display at the SMISA Stadium will force them to sit through another Celtic party this weekend.
The furious goalie said:“I’ve not seen anything from Saturday. Listen it’s an Old Firm game, but it’s no different to any other game. It’s maximum effort like in every single game. We should have won the game on Saturday, we never, because of collective mistakes.
“We haven’t thought about the game next week yet.
“I’m just absolutely raging about Saturday and gutted that we never managed to pick up three points.
“But like the gaffer says, can’t have any complaints. We caused all the harm to ourselves, and it just seems to be the same story since the start of the season.”
