2025 NFL schedule release: Predicting Indianapolis Colts' record

We know what the Indianapolis Colts’ 2025 NFL schedule looks like, so let’s take a swing at making a way-too-early record prediction for this season.

We now know what the Indianapolis Colts’ full 2025 NFL schedule looks like, so let’s take a swing at making a way-too-early record prediction for this season.

Overall, I think most would agree that the Colts did get better this season. GM Chris Ballard addressed the secondary heavily, which included making two high-profile free agent signings in Charvarius Ward and Cam Bynum.

Indianapolis also made a change at defensive coordinator, bringing in Lou Anarumo, whose presence and more aggressive and disguise-heavy scheme can hopefully help elevate the play of that entire unit.

On offense, the Colts addressed their biggest need, tight end, with Tyler Warren, who was widely considered this year’s top tight end draft prospect. His do-it-all skill set will not only create opportunities for him but for his teammates as well.

However, while all that may be true, what is ultimately going to determine the ceiling for the Colts team is their quarterback play, and that is where the biggest question marks lie.

Anthony Richardson and Daniel Jones will be competing for the starting job and will split reps during training camp and the preseason as head coach Shane Steichen searches for the most consistent performer. Even with a well-rounded roster, how good–or bad–the Colts are this season hinges on the play of Richardson or Jones.

I’ll also throw out there that after losing Ryan Kelly and Will Fries in free agency, the offensive line has its uncertainties as well, specifically at right guard, where Matt Goncalves is presumably making a position change.

Perhaps it ends up being a seamless move for him, but assuming that will be the case without any competition feels risky. At the end of the day, if the offensive line play isn’t good enough, I’m not sure it matters who the starting quarterback is.

So with all of that said, making these early-season predictions is always difficult, but it feels even more challenging this year with the unknowns at quarterback, and to a lesser extent, the offensive line.
