The New England Patriots have reportedly hired AJ Highsmith to be their new pro scouting director. He will serve as the replacement for Pat Stewart, who has taken the general manager position at Nebraska.
Neil Stratton was the first to report the news on Wednesday.
Highsmith has served as the role of director of scouting for both the Tennessee Titans and Buffalo Bills. He also worked as a pro personnel scout and scouting assistant for the San Francisco 49ers.
There is a familial connection with Highsmith joining the Patriots. He is the son of current Patriots personnel executive Alonzo Highsmith. The elder Highsmith took on his role with the Patriots in 2024.
The Patriots organization has been busy filling roles and adding personnel this offseason.
AJ Highsmith is another sharp mind in the building as the team continues to identify and develop talent. He will play a key role in the team’s ongoing rebuild moving forward.
