The Kansas City Chiefs player discussed the acting opportunity at The Pat McAfee Show. Swooning over the “off the chain” moment, Kelce shared, “That was a dream come true.” He added, “I thought ‘SNL’ was going to be the peak of my acting and showman or entertainment career. Working with Happy Gilmore himself, the Sandman, and Happy Productions, it was off the chain.”
Without disclosing any particular details of his character in Happy Gilmore 2, Kelce teased that he has “a few” scenes in the movie. Moreover, the NFL star mentioned that the shooting for the film was “a hefty load” of effort.
When the hosts teased if they can expect an Oscar’s nomination for “best new actor” for Kelce, the tight end confessed, “I don’t think I am up to those acting calibers yet.” However, he praised the filming team and especially Sandler’s mastery. Kelce revered Sandler as the “Andy Reid (Kansas City Chiefs’ coach) of the acting world.” He noted, “They’re so professional and yet so fun to work with.”
