The absence of Jake Lockett’s Sam Carver from Chicago Fire‘s latest episode greatly surprised fans. As such, they have been wondering why he was missing from the May 14 episode. Ever since he first appeared in the series, fans have been captivated by Carver’s storyline and have often rooted for him during his struggles, such as his alcohol addiction and his complicated relationship with Violet Mikami.
So, what’s up with Jake Lockett’s Sam Carver, and why was he missing from Chicago Fire Season 13 Episode 21? Here’s Carver’s absence in the latest episode explored.
Why Jake Lockett’s Carver wasn’t in Chicago Fire Season 13 Episode 21
Jake Lockett’s Sam Carver was missing from Chicago Fire Season 13 Episode 21 as he was dealing with “outpatient stuff,” according to Darren Ritter. Ritter had informed Violet and Lizzie of Carver’s current status after they noticed his absence.
Ritter also told them that Carver’s outpatient stuff would “end this week,” and he would return to Firehouse 51 “full-time next shift.” Thus, fans will very likely see Carver back on Chicago Fire in Season 13 Episode 22, also the season finale, set to drop on May 21, 2025.
Carver has been facing many troubles this season. He and Violet Mikami kicked off the latest season dealing with the aftermath of their breakup, which occurred in the last season. Violet attempted to tell Carver that she still had feelings for him. Unfortunately, that couldn’t happen due to the latter’s new girlfriend.
Carver eventually broke things off with her too, but it was too late, as Violet had become involved with Flynn by then. Around this same time, he also began confronting his inner demons and alcoholic troubles. Wishing to turn things around, Carver began a sobriety journey.
Chicago Fire airs on NBC every Wednesday and becomes available for streaming on Peacock the following day. Michael Brandt and Derek Haas co-created the series.
