Amazon MGM Studios has released the first image from its upcoming biographical drama Madden, confirming that production is currently underway. The newly shared on-set photo features Nicolas Cage as Hall of Fame NFL coach John Madden and Christian Bale as Raiders owner Al Davis, marking their first appearance in character.
Directed by David O. Russell, Madden chronicles the life and legacy of John Madden. It traces his rise from Super Bowl-winning coach to one of the most recognizable voices in football. The film shows how Madden left coaching due to health concerns. It also highlights his role in developing the Madden NFL video game series. The movie explores his later success as a broadcaster and pitchman.
The cast also features John Mulaney as Trip Hawkins, the founder of Electronic Arts. Kathryn Hahn plays Virginia Madden, while Sienna Miller portrays Carol Davis. David O. Russell is directing from a script he co-wrote with additional input and revisions, based on an earlier draft by Cambron Clark.
Producers include Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal, Steve Tisch, Jonathan Shukat, David O. Russell, Matthew Budman, and Colin Wilson. Executive producers are David Bloomfield, Michael Strahan, and Constance Schwartz-Morini. The project is produced in association with Skydance Sports.
