What do we know about The Conjuring: Last Rites?
The Conjuring: Last Rites is directed by Michael Chaves, who helmed the third Conjuring movie along with 2019’s The Curse of La Llorona and 2023’s The Nun II. It is expected to be the final film in the main Conjuring franchise.
“There’s only so many times you can say, ‘This is the worst case we’ve ever had!” Wilson told Entertainment Weekly.
Farmiga added, “My rosary literally busted apart. The beads were like, ‘Girl, we’re out of here!’ I think we’ve done as much as we can do for this.”
Chaves said that he briefly considered having an Avengers: Endgame-like moment that features a number of the past monsters featured in the franchise for the final Conjuring movie; however, he decided against it and decided to tell a more “personal story.”
In the film, Ed and Lorraine are called out of retirement to investigate the Smurl family haunting, a well-documented paranormal case that occurred in the 1970s and 80s. The cast of the movie also includes Rebecca Calder, Elliot Cowan, Kíla Lord Cassidy, Beau Gadsdon, Tilly Walker, Molly Cartwright, Peter Wight, and Kate Fahy. Mia Tomlinson, meanwhile, plays a now-adult Judy, who is the daughter of Lorraine and Ed.
