Chris Pine is set to star in and produce an upcoming action movie titled Run the Night for Lionsgate, the company announced.
What do we know about Run the Night?
According to Lionsgate in an announcement on the acquisition of the worldwide rights to the film, the movie will follow the story of a banker who is accused of betraying the Dutch mob, and must fight his way across the city to save his wife and child.
Run the Night will be directed by Robert Alonzo, one of the more well-respected second unit directors in Hollywood. This will be his feature directorial debut. Todd Lieberman of Hidden Pictures will produce alongside Hidden Pictures president Alex Young; Chris Pine and Ian Gotler, via their Barry Linen banner, and John Glenn.
“Chris is an incredible actor and has the perfect combination of warmth and physicality needed to bring this role to life,” said Adam Fogelson, chair, Lionsgate Motion Picture Group in a statement. “We’re proud to be the home of Todd Lieberman’s Hidden Pictures and to be partnering with him and the exceptionally talented filmmaking team on this riveting and explosive action thriller.”
“A banker, accused of betraying the Penose (the Dutch mob), is dumped naked in the heart of Amsterdam with a $10 million bounty on his head,” reads the film’s official synopsis. “Hunted by the city’s most violent gangs, he must fight his way across the city by dawn to save the lives of his wife and child — revealing he was never just the money guy.”
Pine’s latest film role came in 2023’s Wish, where he played King Magnifico in a voice role. He also starred in 2023’s Poolman, as well as Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves.
