Dylan O’Brien’s trans sibling reveals the duo are not close after the former actor spoke about the latter at the Sundance Film Festival while promoting his new film, Ponyboi. While speaking of the movie, the Teen Wolf star once told Vulture, “I have a trans, non-binary sibling, and I know people in my personal life as well who are queer. I am so grateful for how much it deepens my experience in this world.”
Now his trans sibling clarified in an Instagram comment that they have not spoken for over a year. The actor’s sibling, Julz, clarified that their pronouns are “he/they” as he is a trans masc, (via New York Post).
Julz also cleared out any doubts about the duo’s relationship, saying, “He also hasn’t spoken to me in over a year.” They added, “He didn’t check in when I had top surgery. He didn’t even wish me a happy bday last week!”
Directly referencing the New Girl star’s words, Julz commented, “But glad I could deepen his experience in this world and make the world live him that much more.” On another comment, Julz wrote, “(It’s) kinda funny that this article didn’t ask me for a single thing about myself? It’s about me and uses my photo. I’m not even tagged.”
Meanwhile, Julz had previously dedicated multiple tributes to the Maze Runner alum. On August 26, 2022, he shared multiple images of the duo on Instagram, gushing, “Happy Birthday, Dyl!! Love you so much.”
He also shared a childhood picture of Dylan O’Brien and him as siblings with a touching tribute in 2019. Julz’s belated birthday wish for O’brien revealed that the duo had been “celebrating in person.” They added, HAPPY 28TH BIRTHDAY, LIL BRO! I love you literally more than I know how to express.”
