Xbox boss Phil Spencer says Indiana Jones video game franchise has “life”

In a recent Variety interview with Xbox Boss Phil Spencer, he was asked if Microsoft has larger plans for Indiana Jones and the Great Circle and if it could potentially spin into its own franchise. While the exec’s answer is vague, Spencer says Microsoft is “really happy” with how Machine Games‘ latest game performed and said there is “life” in the franchise.

“I will say, we’re really happy with ‘Indy’ and the players and the reception,” says Spencer. “We do think there’s life in that franchise, and I’m just gonna leave it at that.”

“But going forward, I also want to give the teams the ability to do our own games and our own franchises,” continues Spencer. “We have a lot of room to tell new stories, as well. And I want to make sure that’s an option for us.”

When Indiana Jones and the Great Circle launched in December of 2024, it was met with positive reception. According to review aggregate site Metacritic, it received an average score of 86 across 77 critic reviews.
