Golden Bachelor Season 1 star Gerry Turner has come out to share an update on the incurable cancer he was diagnosed with back in December 2024. Turner is suffering from a slow-growing bone marrow cancer, known in medical terms as Waldenström’s macroglobulinemia. In a recent discussion, the reality TV celebrity opened up about how the situation has affected his daily routine.

Does Gerry Turner have Cancer?

Turner is indeed battling a rare bone marrow cancer. However, the television personality has yet to undergo any treatment due to the absence of any noticeable symptoms. Talking about his ailment during his recent appearance on the Bachelor Happy Hour podcast, Turner noted, “I feel great. Until I have any symptoms, there’s no treatment. So I go frequently for blood tests. I’m on, like, a six-month schedule now, and I feel optimistic because the doctor has said, ‘Well, when you turn 75, we’re going to have to go three-month increments.’ So it’s telling me that at least he expects me to live another couple of years to get to that. But the bottom line is I feel really good,” as per People.

Gerry Turner learned about his cancer diagnosis during a visit to an orthopedic surgeon regarding a shoulder issue. In December 2024, he disclosed his condition to the public, revealing the disease to be Waldenström’s macroglobulinemia. The ailment causes the patient’s white blood cells to transform into cancerous cells inside the bone marrow.

In the interview, Gerry Turner also shared how the cancer diagnosis has changed his attitude toward life. “I mean this sincerely, from the time I got this diagnosis, it’s a privilege to live like you’re dying,” he stated. “I don’t turn down anything. I feel like I’m more open to emotions. I’m more open to experiences,” Turner explained before adding that “it makes life exciting.”

Despite recent medical advancements, professionals have yet to find a cure for the disease Turner has unfortunately acquired.
