Samuel L. Jackson & Fantastic Four Director Team Up for Man of War

Marvel vet Samuel L. Jackson has officially signed on for the leading role in Paramount Pictures’ Western thriller Man of War. The movie will be directed by Tim Story (Fantastic Four, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer), who is also serving as one of its producers.

Jackson was most recently seen in last year’s Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist miniseries with Kevin Hart and in the Western crime movie The Unholy Trinity with Pierce Brosnan. He recently reprised his MCU role as Nick Fury for an episode in the latest season of the animated series Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur. He is also currently attached to star in several upcoming movies such as the sci-fi comedy Afterburn with Dave Bautista, the action comedy The Honest Liar with Edgar Ramirez, and the action thriller The Beast with Joel Kinnaman.

What is Man of War about?

“In Man of War, Jackson plays a newly retired and long-revered general who returns to his hometown in rural Georgia after the death of his wife to find it in the throes of corruption, gentrification and racism. Using battle-honed strategy and combat skills, he’ll wage all-out war against the town and the billionaire exploiting it,” reads the movie’s synopsis.

Story is directing Man of War from a screenplay written by Sheldon Turner. The movie will be produced by Jennifer Klein and Turner for 100% Productions, with The Story Company’s Vicky Story set as an executive producer. At the moment, the project has no target release date or production start date.
