Actress Ayelet Zurer, who portrays Vanessa Fisk in Daredevil: Born Again, reflected on the big reveals about her character in Episode 8 in a recent interview.
Early in the episode, Fisk shows Vanessa that he has kept her former lover, Adam, captive and offers her the opportunity to free him. She kills him instead. Toward the end of the episode, Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock / Daredevil deduces that Vanessa hired Wilson Bethel’s Benjamin “Dex” Poindexter / Bullseye to kill Elden Henson’s Foggy Wilson.
Ayelet Zurer on why Vanessa killed Adam in Daredevil: Born Again
Zurer spoke on the reasons behind her character’s decision to kill Adam in an interview with ScreenRant. She also indicated that Vanessa might ultimately face the consequences of her actions. “There will be consequences to everything, because that’s the show – everybody has consequences,” she said, before underscoring that Vanessa killed Adam to show Fisk that he could completely trust her again despite past infidelity.
“I think, for Vanessa, it’s all about gaining trust in this season, for her and him, I guess,” the Munich actress explained. “Because the innate law is that they love each other and they’re like that [locking hands] intertwined and inseparable. So it’s going to be heartbreaking to see what she has to do in order to gain trust, but at the same time, it’s inevitable,” she added.

Zurer was asked about her opinion on the speculations among fans that Foggy might not be dead. In Marvel Comics (spoilers ahead), Vanessa also orchestrates Foggy’s apparent murder, but he is ultimately revealed to be alive. Zurer somewhat sidestepped the question and instead reiterated that “consequences are coming” and that they were “inevitable.” Zurer also confessed that she “just couldn’t take it” after reading the role Vanessa played in Foggy’s death. “It’s like such a miserable, sad moment to see him gone, and then to have that tie to her somehow,” she elaborated.
Born Again’s finale is scheduled for April 15.
